This week, I challenged myself to read at least one book a week for the next 6 months. From September 2011 to February 2012. After that period of time, I will check if I go for another period. Let’s do it chunk by chunk. This can include both Computer/Programming/Technical books or non-technical ones. It doesn’t have to be ‘complicated’ books. The idea is to handle a challenge and at the same time probably discover some areas of reading I never considered before. I encourage you to do the same if possible or at least just to read more than you already do. I think reading is a necessary activity for the brain in order to keep it hydrated 🙂 At least it must be a better thing than playing Farmville all day long or looking at Family Guy 3 hours a day 🙂 Anyway, that’s just my 2 cents on that. I guess every person has a different way of being impregnated by an activity and we all have differents tastes. I’m starting this week and I should be completing, by end of the week, the current book:
Be Great, by Peter H. Thomas.
I challenged myself to do so after reading Julien’s blog, in which he talks about starting the same challenge a couple of years ago. I met with Julien this week and we got to chance to talk about that and he explained me how useful, resourceful and amazing this experience has been for him since he has started to do so. Julien is a really motivated and motivating person. He is very focused and reaches for his limits every time possible. I just feel lucky to know him.
I love reading. I love learning. I love discovering new things and I love the idea of challenging myself to do something I never did in the past.
During that lovely 🙂 experience, I will be blogging about it and about the books that I read. I might also consider getting a kindle in order to read while commuting. Or maybe just the Iphone/Windows Phone/Android Kindle app or something similar.
No matter which way I use I will be reading at least 1 book a week for the next 6 months.
Feel free to make me some suggestions of books you’ve loved. I’ll see if I can include them in my reading list. I don’t read novels, unless they’re related to a true story. I read biographies of successful people, positive thinking books, programming and architecture books and a few other things.
Check Julien here and the book I’m actually reading here.
Quote of the day:
We have to realize that every day we wake to see another sun rise, is another day to better ourselves.
Let’s start !!!
